DMGT Reports Increase In Market Share

Daily Mail & General Trust today released its preliminary results for the year, showing a turnover of £1,417.8 million, an increase of 18% from last year. Pre-tax profit was £197.4 million for the year ended 27 September 1998.

The group reported significant market share increases of its titles, the Daily Mail and the Mail On Sunday, whose average circulations were up 5.9% and 3.4% respectively. Its London title, the Evening Standard also enjoyed a circulation increase for the first time in several years.

The group did report a slow down in advertising revenue however, but is confident in its future outlook due to its strong market position.
