Channel 5 has signed an ‘airtime for equity’ deal with online gaming site Getminted.com worth up to £1m.
Despite the recent decline in backing dotcom companies, Channel 5 will take a stake in Getminted.com, currently valued at £20m, in exchange for up to £1m of advertising on the channel.
The campaign for the gaming website will give viewers the chance to win £1m in the daily lotto and will generate brand awareness for the pay-per-play offerings that are core to the Getminted proposition.
Head of new business at Channel 5, James Burgon, said: “We recognise the strength of the Getminted approach and we are confident our partnership will generate considerable value.”
Channel 5 signed its first of several airtime for equity deals with internet start-up company Newsline), but has avoided similar deals since the collapse of the e-commerce economy.
