Drop In Profits At BSkyB As Chisholm Steps Down

BSkyB has announced a drop of £4.7m in pre-tax profits for the three months to September, from £66.3 million to £61.6 million. Revenue however grew 24% to £330.2m. It is also expected that Sam Chisholm will hand over the chief executive title to Mark Booth, JSkyB’s chief operating officer, at today’s company meeting.

The reason for the drop in profits is believed to be down to the high cost of the football Premier League contract and start-up costs for new channel launches and British Interactive Broadcasting. The number of BSkyB subscribers grew by 129,000 to 6.5 million.
