Carol Dukes, joint managing director of EMAP Online, will be leaving the company to join Carlton Communications as head of its new company, Carlton Online.
As well as developing new sites and online business opportunities, Carlton Online will coordinate the broadcaster’s existing websites. It is also expected that the new arm will help develop interactive services for the launch of digital TV.
Carol Dukes, who joins Carlton next week as managing director of Carlton Online, said: “The internet offers excellent opportunities for creating and delivering content, for merchandising and for advertising – all areas in which Carlton has significant businesses. Digital terrestrial television will rapidly expand the potential for interactive services and open up a whole new set of commercial opportunities for Carlton.”
Carlton Online will be recruiting 30 staff initially. It is understood that Roger Green, currently joint managing director of EMAP Online, will become sole MD.
