Eastenders Attracts Biggest Audience

The strong story line in recent Eastenders episodes has drawn its biggest audience for years, over taking Coronation Street as top programme for the week. Thursday’s episode, which revealed the results of Tuesday’s fight between Phil and Grant Mitchell, drew an audience of 19.31 million for the single showing, and a further 5.99 million on its repeat Sunday showing.

However, over the whole month of October, the BBC’s viewing share was down 2.1% points on September, and down 1.3% points year on year. ITV/C4’s viewing share was up 0.9% points year on year and up 1.5% points on September.
