BBC One had a poor night, pulling in less than five million viewers for Eastenders at 7.30pm, its worst figures for over a year.
Eastenders, BBC One’s flagship soap, only attracted an average of 4.9 million people between 7.30pm and 8pm, with a 26.5% audience share.
ITV1’s rival soap, Emmerdale, on at the earlier time of 7pm to 8pm, gained a 32% audience share with more than 5.8 million viewers.
However, BBC One managed to fend off the other channels between 8pm and 10pm, with Holby City and Bonekickers pulling in more than 4.6 million each.
Hospital drama, Holby City, attracted a 24% audience share with 4.8 million viewers, while Bonekickers got a 21% share with 4.6 million viewers.
ITV1’s Doc Martin fell just behind Bonekickers, with more than 4 million peak viewers, while Channel 4’s Gordon Ramsay’s F Word pulled in just over 3 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm.
Nominations night in the Big Brother house attracted a 17.4% audience share, with more than 3 million viewers between 10pm and 11pm.
