EE financial results show rapid 4G adoption

The latest financial results for EE for the third quarter show rapid 4G customer growth, up 72% quarter on quarter.

4G – which is now available in 117 towns and cities across the UK – added 493,000 4G customers in Q3, taking its total to almost 1.2 million and establishing EE as Europe’s fastest growing 4G operator.

The mobile operator’s fixed broadband business maintained strong revenue growth for the seventh consecutive quarter, up 9% in Q3 on the back of customer growth and take up of fibre services.

Overall, the quarter ending 30 September 2013 saw a 2.4% increase of turnover year on year, totaling just over £1.63 million.

“Consumers and businesses across the UK are recognising that EE has the best network for the smartphone era, with more superfast 4G coverage than all the other networks combined,” said Neal Milsom, chief financial officer of EE.

“We attracted half million 4G customers in the quarter and large companies including ASDA, BT, Canon, Expedia, Kimberly-Clark and Virgin Media selected EE’s network to help grow their businesses.”
