Electronic Telegraph Joins NTL’s Interactive TV

The Electronic Telegraph has signed up with NTL to be included of the cable company’s interactive television service which launched at the end of March (see NTL Interactive Launch On Schedule). The online version of the Daily Telegraph will offer NTL viewers daily news, sports coverage as well as features and comment.

From July the Electronic Telegraph will join ITN and Sporting Life on the interactive news and sports channels which are initially available through NTL’s TV-internet service. The channels will then be rolled out to digital cable and digital terrestrial television.

Commenting on the association, director of content at NTL Interactive, John Hondros said: “We’re guiding viewers towards an exciting interactive future and the Telegraph forms an important and dynamic part of our growing news and sports coverage.”

NTL launches its digital television service on 1 September and is hoping to have signed up a quarter of a million customers mid-2000 (see NTL Aims For 250,000 Digital Subscribers By Mid-2000).
