EMAP Acquires French Magazines

EMAP has announced today that it is to acquire Tele Star, the holding company for the magazine publishing interests of CLT Multi Media, for FF1.1 billion, (£142 million). This includes Top Sante and the TV listings magazine Tele Star.

Kevin Hand, President of EMAP France, said, “This is a significant step forward for EMAP France … Tele Star and Top Sante are two of the publishing success stories in France in the last decade and complement our current magazine interests.”

EMAP’s current French portfolio includes – TV listings magazine Telepoche (1.4 m sold per week), and women’s interest titles Modes et Travaux (731,000 sold per month) and Nous Deux (436,000 sold per week), additionally the company’s has several joint ventures including Le Chasseur Francais and motoring titles Auto Plus and L’Auto Journal.

Through this acquisition EMAP increases its share in the French consumer magazine market from 11% to 15%.
