EMAP Creates A New Sponsorship Department
EMAP On Air has a new sponsorship department in the pipeline dedicated to developing long-term major sponsorship opportunities for clients across Emap’s radio and TV interests.
Charlie Norton has been appointed as head of sponsorship, and will head up a team covering Kiss, Magic and Metro brands, and The Box. As well as handling TV and radio, the department will also develop mulit-media campaigns working in conjunction with Emap’s magazine divisions.
Norton’s team will include David Hipkiss as account director, and Alexis Thompson as promotions operations manager.
Hipkiss has been with Emap On Air since September and said: “We wanted to focus resources on long-term sponsorships and a partnership strategy for our clients. In particular we wanted to develop the multi-media opportunities with our radio and TV properties, linking with our magazine interests.”
Charlie Norton, head of sponsorship, is optimistic about the possibilities for the new department: “There are some amazing multi-media opportunities that exist with the Emap portfolio of broadcast media and working with consumer magazines. It is now my role and the responsibility of the department to develop a creative sponsorship approach, with a dedicated resource and a skilled team.”
