EMAP Expands In Australia

EMAP announced today its further expansion in Australia with the purchase of New Woman magazine from Murdoch magazines. The group already publishes New Woman in the UK and this acquisition reflects its ongoing strategy to develop its leading brands internationally.

The magazine will add to EMAP’s worldwide portfolio of women’s titles, which include Red, Elle and Top Sante and will complement the group’s young women’s magazine Minx, which is soon to be launched in Australia.

New Woman Australia will work closely with the title’s UK publishing team, who were behind the recent relaunch of the magazine. Relevant editorial from the UK publication will be used to enhance the content of its sister title and move it to a steadily younger readership.

Commenting on the acquisition EMAP’s chief executive Kevin Hand said: “The acquisition of New Woman in Australia reflects the growing internationalism of our titles. FHM, Smash Hits, Top Sante and Car are all now on an international footing and we expect more to follow. We are creating global content which will improve increasingly valuable in a digital world.”

A website for the title is planned.
