EMAP has confirmed that it is to buy Maclean Hunter European Publishing from Canada’s Rogers Communications for £60m cash.
Other interested parties in buying Maclean Hunter had included Reed and a management buyout.
Maclean Hunter European Publishing includes 22 directories and 34 magazines, in the UK and six other countries. Titles include the UK Press Gazette.
EMAP said the deal bolstered its already established position in the rapidly growing media sector, and it is expected to boost EMAP’s earnings in its current year.
