EMAP managing director David Arculus will be leaving the company to become chief operating officer at United News & Media. His specific responsibilities will include operational duties for Express newspapers, Meridian and Anglia broadcasting, Channel 5 and the group’s magazines and exhibition interests.
Mr Arculus’s resignation is thought to have been provoked by recent boardroom battles at EMAP, when two of its directors were forcibly removed from the board * EMAP Vote To Remove Directors, as well as a very attractive package from UNM.
The news had an immediate effect on both company’s share prices, with UNM rising 17p to 704.5p and EMAP falling 25 to 787.5p.
