Emap Performance has announced the impending departure of marketing chief, Malcolm Cox, as part of a wide-ranging restructure of the radio and digital television division’s marketing division.
Cox, who is to step down after 14 years, has been instrumental in developing the company’s cross-media branding strategy that now forms the basis for Emap’s radio, television and music magazine interests.
Commenting on Cox’s departure, Ford said: “We would all like to thank Malcolm for his contribution to Emap over the last 14 years and in particular for his help in building the fantastic music brands we have today. We wish him every success as he moves on to the next phase in his career.”
Cox has yet to announce his next career move, but commenting on his time with Emap, he said: “From launching Kiss in 1990, through to winning the Kerrang! licence last year, it’s been brilliant.”
He added: “I’d like to thank all the teams of creative people who have made it such fun. Recently, I’ve had a number of interesting approaches and decided it’s time to move on. I’m looking forward to working with a new set of talented people, to leverage creative ideas that deliver results.”
The restructure at Emap Performance comes as the company continues to drive growth in its radio divisions, with Kerrang! Radio running trial broadcasts on 97.6 FM in Manchester and the acquisition of SMG’s 27.8% stake in Scottish Radio Holdings for £90.5 million (see SMG Sells Radio Stake To Reduce Mounting Debts).
