Emap Plans To Turn Heat Into TV Show

Emap is said to be well advanced in its plans to turn its successful celebrity magazine Heat into a TV show within a year. The news was announced by chief executive Keith Hand at the annual PPA Magazine and B2B conference today.

Heat’s turnaround from a failing entertainment and listings magazine to a top selling celebrity gossip title has been the stuff of publishers’ dreams, and helped to push the TV listings market up more than 50% in the last set of ABC figures (see Heat Blazes A Trail Across TV Sector).

Emap has some experience of converting print titles into TV, with Q, Kerrang! and Smash Hits from the Emap Performance stable having already been made into TV channels (see Launches Brief).
