Emap advertising has announced the promotion of deputy magazine sales director, Jason Trout, to the management board, helping to maintain strong focus on the development of the company’s magazine offering.
The role will see Trout heading up the company’s three magazine market divisions: Men’s, Women’s and Youth. Trout will also oversee the development of the magazine sales team’s client base.
Commenting on the appointment, Carrie Barker, magazine sales director at Emap Advertising said: “This appointment at the start of the new financial year means Emap Advertising is extremely well placed to get ahead in the market and continue to offer customers ground breaking media solutions.”
She added: “It is the Board’s job to ensure that we have the right strategy to achieve these challenges and Jason’s insight and fresh thinking will add real value to this process.”
Trout has worked in both radio and television and brings a wealth of multi-media experience with him to the role, which he has taken up immediately.
Earlier this month, Emap Advertising confirmed the appointment of Marcus Rich, currently managing director of Emap Performance, as its new managing director (see Emap Moves Rich In As Advertising Boss).
Rich assumed responsibility for Emap Advertising’s 250-strong team on 11th May 2005, continuing to report to Paul Keenan, chairman of the Emap Advertising Board, and maintaining his role as head of Performance, as well as Emap Elan.
Emap recently announced a strong performance in its UK consumer magazine division, with copy sales revenues growing by 5% on an underlying basis. In an upbeat pre-close trading statement, the group revealed that its consumer magazine advertising division has enjoyed a 4% year on year rise for the year ending 31 March 2005, with celebrity-focused Closer showing exceptional growth (see Emap Sees Rising Revenue From Magazines).
