Emap Strikes Deals With HMV, Creates QTV

Emap Digital has announced a partnership with HMV which will create a combined content and commerce music destination on the internet. Six co-branded shops, including Q, Mixmag, Smash Hits and Kiss will sell HMV stock and form the backbone of the group’s major online strategy for its music sector.

Jerry Perkins, managing director of the Emap Digital music project, said: “Recommendation is at the heart of our websites’ editorial policy and Emap’s deal with HMV will allow content and commerce to be never more than a click away from one another.”

The process begins in November with the launch of Q4Music.com and Mojo4music.com.

Emap Performance Network, which houses all the group’s musical interests, has also announced a continued drive onto further platforms. Q Television will be available on Sky Digital from 2 October, allowing viewers to choose videos from a specially selected playlist, and it will also be developed as a digital radio station to form part of a digital radio network broadcasting across the UK.
