Emap Suspends Project Floyd

The launch of Emap’s Elan’s new men’s title, provisionally called “Project Floyd,” has been postponed.
The glossy publication focusing on work, career and lifestyle issues was expected to be Emap’s big launch of the autumn, but publication has been suspended while the company focuses on the launch of FHM Bionic and Elle Girl.
A spokesperson for Emap Elan said: “Emap is only interested in launching the right project at the right time and at the moment other projects have priority.” They added: “Project Floyd is unlikely to launch before the end of the year.”
The title was expected to be similar in style to magazines such as Fast, Company, Red Herring and Arena and would have launched into an already overcrowded market.
The men’s market has suffered a spate of closures over the last twelve months, including IPC’s Later, Emap’s Sky and Cabal Communications Mondo (see Has The Bubble Burst For Men’s Mags?).
