Emap TV Increases Digital Viewers With NTL Deal

Emap Performance is to broadcast all six of its music channels on NTL Digital in Ireland, in the first international deal of its kind for the company.
The channels, which were previously only available in Ireland through Sky Digital, will launch later this month meaning that The Box, Kiss TV, QTV, Smash Hits, Kerrang TV and Magic TV will be available in an extra 28,000 digital homes.
Commenting on the deal, managing director of Emap Performance TV, Shirley Renwick, said: “We are constantly looking for ways of expanding the audience of Emap’s channels. The deal with NTL promises to introduce a new range of interactive TV for a large number of new homes.”
She added: “We have taken more than 52% of the music TV share on Sky Digital and we’re now planning to do the same on all other platforms.”
Last year Emap awarded the sales contract for its portfolio of six digital music channels to BSkyB in a deal thought to be worth around £15m (see BSkyB Wins Emap Ad Sales Contract).
