Emap’s Kiss To Launch Across GWR Digital Multiplex

Emap Performance and GWR have formed a joint venture company called EG Digital to launch dance music station Kiss across GWR’s local digital radio multiplex network.

The deal, which will bring Kiss to digital listeners in Bristol, Swindon and Wolverhampton, will increase the station’s potential UK audience by around 9 millionlisteners.

Kiss currently broadcasts to digital audiences in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Northern Ireland and, according to Emap, the new deal will make the dance music station the largest DAB brand broadcasting on local multiplexes.

Commenting on the deal, Simon Ward, GWR’s director of digital and new media, said: “GWR has specified that dance music would be included in all its Now Digital multiplexes. This partnership ensures that we offer our listeners a top quality brand and gives GWR the opportunity to be part of that by offering the brand to our local customers.”

The latest RAJAR results for the second quarter of 2002, show that flagship London-based Kiss 100 FM has seen its weekly reach decline by 5.2% year on year to 1,489,000, down from 1,570,000 in the same period last year.
