Emmerdale Criticised Again
Yorkshire Television’s soap Emmerdale has received further criticism for the degree of violence used in some episodes. The Broadcasting Standards Council said yesterday that an episode showing a post office raid “exceeded limits appropriate for such a serial.” Last month the ITC upheld complaints against the same episode.
The Broadcasting Standards Council has ordered Yorkshire Television to publish a summary of its adjudication in a national newspaper with a circulation over 1 million.
Other programmes criticised yesterday included Channel 4’s Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush for comparing the Crucifixion to the recent events at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
