England’s Euro 2000 Match Gives Channel 5 Record Share
Channel 5 is claiming a record weekly share of viewing, at an average 6.5%, for the week Monday 7 June to Sunday 13 June. The channel’s previous highest weekly audience share was 5.8% in April this year.
England’s 1-1 Euro 2000 draw against Bulgaria, on Wednesday, contributed to the strong performance. The match had an audience share of 27%, from an average 4.4 million viewers, and gave C5 an average daily share of 12.9%. Channel 5 says that it broke the 5% share every day during the week.
Director of programmes, Dawn Airey, says: “The tremendous figures for the England game were backed up by consistent performances across a range of programmes including documentaries, films and soaps.”
