Enjoy! – First Issue Review

Enjoy! – First Issue Review

The new title from Bauer was launched today at the bargain price of 20p. Enjoy! magazine is aimed at 18-34 women and claims to bridge the gap between teen titles and the traditional women’s weeklies. The question is, is there a gap to be bridged?

The editorial content of the magazine is much the same as any other women’s magazine, having articles on personal experiences, true life stories, and reviews on cinema, video, TV and music. There are also crosswords, articles on fashion and ‘your body’ and the regular pages of horoscopes (does the Sun know Justin Toper is moonlighting?), reader’s problems and makeovers. Nothing seems to be largely different except for the health tips which tell you that if you live in the town you are better off going for a jog in the early morning or that the ‘healthiest’ unhealthiest food to eat is pizza.

One good thing about the magazine is it does account for women going on holiday later in the year by having an article on tanning products and what to do with your hair in the hot weather: many magazines think that the holiday period stops at the end of August.

The magazine is A4, matt and has 56 pages, none of which have advertising. The regular price of the magazine will be 55p and the initial print run will be 1.5 million copies.
