Ericsson Launches Internet Ad Targeting
Ericsson has launched ‘Internet Advertiser’, which it claims is the industry’s first intelligent network application that distributes targeted advertisements and guarantees that adverts are viewed by internet users.
With Internet Advertiser, internet service providers (ISPs) can provide free or low cost internet access to subscribers while generating increased revenue from advertisers, says Ericsson. The system allows ISPs to control the ads which are sent to web pages, based on the user’s profile, location, time of use and interests.
Earlier in the week, UK computer company, ADscience, launched software called ADfilter, which is intended to be used to filter out adverts whilst browsing the Net (see Newsline). Internet Advertiser, however, claims to provide ISPs with “fraud control capability” that guarantees advertisements are viewed rather than bypassed by users.
