ES Magazine – First Issue Review

On Friday the Evening Standard launched its new weekly magazine to replace the previous monthly.

It is tabloid size, printed on colour newspaper rather than the previous magazine which was glossy. The title contains articles on gossip, fashion, London celebrities, as well as regular shopping features, guides to restaurants, motoring, cookery, sports and a section called Hot Tickets, which is a selection of the best arts and entertainment for that week.

This week there are articles on fashion stylists, six political wives, Harold Pinter and Peter Jones in Sloane Square 37% is given over to advertising, with double pages taken by Benson and Hedges Jaeger and Harrods. Other advertisers include Michelob, USAir and Mercury.

The 46 page magazine is similar to many of the national new sections, such as the Mail’s Saturday section in style, and the ticket guide provides a fully comprehensive guide to the major London events and attractions.
