Establishment Survey – Net Homes Increase Everywhere
The new Establishment Survey (June 1995) shows an increase in net households across all regions for the period. The highest increases come in the North West and Yorkshire where the number of households increased by 152,000 and 144,000 respectively. Overall the Network figure is up 895,000 to 23,071,000.
With regard to the number of households connected to cable and satellite the overall Network figure shows a 19% increase to 4,309,000. The largest increase came from the South West region where connections increased from 10% to 15% – 66,000 households to 102,000.
In terms of the make-up of cable and satellite homes there is a very slight move upmarket with AB households now making up 18% of all cable and satellite homes, and D households making up 16% of homes – the 1994 figures were 17% and 18% respectively.
Ownership of TV equipment has seen increases across all categories in 1995 with the following network figures:
