EU: Communication on taxation

The Commission has adopted a Communication recommending that no new taxes be levied on electronically-conducted business or trade within the EU. It also proposes a number of guidelines intended to serve as a basis for discussions with all parties interested in the development of electronic commerce. The aim is to ensure that taxation is certain, simple and neutral, in order to avoid any distortion of the market and to promote the growth of electronic commerce.
