EU: Green light for Hungary

Reporting for the Culture Committee, the MEP Odile Leperre-Verrier (F, ERA) has welcomed a Commission proposal for Hungary to participate from 1998 onwards in the MEDIA II programme, effectively creating a European audiovisual area and helping to support European audiovisual production and distribution. Hungary is widely perceived to be the applicant country from Central Europe which comes closest to meeting the legislative requirements defined by the EU’s audiovisual policy.
