Euro 2000 Even Crosses The Atlantic

High-flying attempts to escape Euro 2000 have been foiled as Virgin Atlantic plans to screen England’s matches as part of its in-flight entertainment on longhaul routes. The broadcasts will be sponsored by Orange and Euro 2000’s official website producer www.sportal.co.uk and will occur the day after the matches take place.

The initial plans are to screen England v Portugal on 13 June, England v Germany on 18 June and England v Romania on 21 June and the final on 3 July regardless of which countries are in it. Should England make it to the quarter and semi-finals these matches will also be shown.

Virgin Atlantic Airway’s chairman, Richard Branson said: “Broadcasting the Euro 2000 matches onboard ensures that football fans who have missed the match through travelling can see it on their return journey and passengers travelling out can experience the excitement again.”

Fortunately for those trying to avoid football fever, twenty alternative channels are available on Virgin’s seat-back television screens.
