Eurosport Plans For UK Service

Eurosport Plans For UK Service

Pan-European sports broadcaster, Eurosport, is preparing plans to launch a UK-specific version of the cable and satellite sports channel.

Eurosport currently covers events from across Europe and has a relatively low presence in the UK. British Eurosport, the project’s working name, will offer UK sports coverage with a regional element.

A spokesperson for Eurosport played down the plans saying that they currently have neither presenters nor production facilities. They are confident, though, that the channel “will happen” and confirmed that it is scheduled for launch some time next year.

Premium TV is the company which is spearheading the project, and it is understood that it has financial backing from cable company NTL.

Subscribers can access the Cable/Satellite Database by selecting “Cable & Satellite” from the drop-down box at the top of this page.
