Chris Evans won the prestigious 1998 Sony Gold Award at last night’s Sony Radio Awards ceremony in London. It was presented to him for raising the awareness of radio through Virgin Radio .
Other winners were BBC Radio 5 Live (National Station of the Year), Steve Jackson’s Morning Glory on Kiss FM (Breakfast Music Award) and John Inverdale’s coverage of Wimbledon and the British Lions Test on BBC Radio 5 Live (Sport Gold Award).
