Press rumours concerning a joint venture between The Telegraph and United News & Media continue to circulate. The Telegraph today denied reports in Sunday Business that it was planning a merger between the Daily Telegraph/Sunday Telegraph and Daily Express/Sunday Express.
The merger would involve Conrad Black’s Hollinger Group and United each owning a 50% stake in the merged titles. Reasons for the merger talk include the defection of the Telegraph’s managing director Stephen Grabiner to United as Executive Director and rumours of a joint sales venture between United and the Telegraph (Newsline 08/05).
