Express Looking At 20p Daily
The Express is considering extending its current cut-price Saturday edition to the rest of the week for a short period, according to sources. The 20p edition has apparently given the title its best sales for ten years. On January 25 it added around 400,000 to take its circulation to 1.77 million and last Saturday the increase rose to 450,000 year-on-year.
The promotion has run for the last five weeks and it will probably continue for another few. With the Express titles rapidly losing sales, it is believed that considerable pressure is being exerted within the title to continue the promotion, with some believing it is the only way it can win new buyers in the face of the Mail‘s strong position.
