Express Newspapers and Mirror Group are set to become partners in UK News, the news service for evening newspapers launched two years ago by Northcliffe Newspapers and Westminster Press, after they discontinued subscriptions to PA. Both groups will use UK News instead of the Press Association.
Over the next few months UK News plans to expand the service to become a 24hr operation suitable for national and regional daily and Sunday newspapers.
The eleven national newspapers owned or represented by the Mirror and Express Groups will start taking the new service when their current contracts with the Press Association expire at the end of the year. Mirror Group already uses UK News as the news source for its cable TV channel, Live TV. UK News also currently provides services to 32 evening newspapers.
