Express Newspapers Revamps SportLive Website

Express Newspapers’ SportLive website has been redesigned and relaunched this week, following feedback from its users and a ‘rethinking’ of presentation.

The format of the site, which was launched originally in June last year (see Express And ITN Launch Sports Website), was found to be too unclear according to Anne Mollen, head of business development at Express Online. “Whilst users were enthusiastic about the content, the format was not very successful in giving information about what was on the site,” she says.

The new-look site has also been made a lot faster through less graphics and the removal of frames. The site is being promoted for one week on a number of major websites through SportLive banner ads and features improved News, Diary and Grassroots sections.

SportLive is currently not audited by ABC //electronic. Mollen believes that it is necessary to wait until a standard set of traffic auditing criteria is established by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), before the true value of independent audits will be realised.

Express Online also publishes www.megatstar.co.uk, the online version of the Daily Star and the Express‘ website at www.express.co.uk.
