Prior to the FA Cup final on Saturday, research, carried out by Telewest Communications, found that only 20% of those people intending to watch the match find the half-time conversation interesting, while 37% found it quite dull.
But, even if Des failed to draw the crowds, according to overnight figures, the live match coverage on BBC1 still attracted 10.9 million viewers, representing a TVR of 20.2. Looking at the audience breakdown, 6.2 million Men, a TVR of 30.1, watched the match on Saturday and 3.4 million women, 14.5 TVRs, stayed in to watch the game.
