Facebook confirms first UK and Ireland MD

Facebook has confirmed MEC CEO Steve Hatch as its first UK and Ireland managing director.

Hatch leaves his role at MEC where he started when the company was first created in 1998, and will be required to report to Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president EMEA Facebook.

“Steve brings a strong strategic approach and impressive leadership skills to Facebook,” said Mendelsohn, who joined the social networking giant earlier this year. “His experience will allow him to take forward the existing collaborative approach Facebook has with clients and brands to drive creative results throughout the UK and Ireland.”

Commenting on Hatch’s departure from MEC, Tom George, chairman of UK and Northern Europe at MEC said that Hatch has made a ‘massive contribution’ to MEC’s achievements over the years and the company will be sorry to see him go.

“Under Steve’s leadership he has built an extremely strong management team and I will be working alongside them as we determine his successor to ensure the continued success of MEC in the UK,” George said.
