Farming News – Regional Editions

The Miller Freeman title, Farming News, is to produce two new regional edition from September. The new editions, one covering South West England and South Wales, and the other South East England, follow the pilot venture in the east which has been running since March.

Donald Taylor, editor, said, “Our Eastern Extra exceeded our wildest expectations and prompted us to race ahead with other regional issues. We carefully target the audience in specific regions reducing paper and postage costs, and then reflect that in our advertising rates. So instead of having to charge a national rate for a national paper we can charge a local rate for a local paper, and compete head on with the regional dailies and weeklies. Readers gain by having an extra 8 pages of local news and ads inside their national issue, while advertisers have all the prestige and benefits of a national publication, but at a local rate.”

Each region will have its own reporter and photographer based in the area.
