The ITC has awarded Multiplex Service Licence A to S4C Digital Networks Ltd, the sole applicant. The licence is expected to be granted within 12 weeks. The ITC did not announce this at the same time as the other Multiplex Awards as it needed SDN to clarify some financing details *The Multiplex Awards.
This Award is conditional on S4C’s shareholding in SDN being no greater than 50.1% and on the remainder of the funding being provided by another shareholder or shareholders acceptable to the ITC. This is to ensure that there are sufficient financial resources available to SDN to maintain the service throughout the period of the licence.
SDN is already in discussion with other parties who have indicated an interest in becoming substantial SDN shareholders.
