Final News Decision To Be Made Today

ITV chief executives meet today to make final decisions about the future of News At Ten, with sources predicting that the slot will not be changed. Plans to move the news to an earlier time met with much opposition from the public and politicians, including the prime minister. National heritage secretary, Peter Brooke, has warned ITV that its plans could damage the prospect of changing the Broadcasting Act to allow internal takeovers within the network.
