Final Spooks pulls in over 6.2m

Spooks BBC One’s crime drama Spooks pulled in more than 6.2 million viewers last night.

The last in the series, which raced ahead of the competition for the peak-time audience, attracted 6 million average viewers and a 25% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

Elsewhere, ITV1’s new series of Taggart managed to pick up 5.3 million viewers in the first 15 minutes, before dipping down to an average of 4.9 million throughout the hour.

It was a close call between the other three terrestrial channels, with Channel 4’s Catastrophe just managing to come out on top with 1.5 million average viewers.

BBC Two’s World War Two with Laurence Rees attracted 1.3 million average viewers and a 5.4% audience share, while Five’s look at stars the of the 1960s, Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll, pulled in 1.1 million average viewers between 9pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, ITV1’s Coronation Street banked more than 10 million peak viewers during the second trip to the street at 8.30pm, securing just under a 40% audience share.

More than 9.7 million viewers tuned in to see the earlier show, which saw Maria ask Tom for help to uncover the truth about Liam’s death, pushing the soap ahead of its BBC rival.

Eastenders pulled in 9.5 million peak viewers and a 38.6% average audience share between 8pm and 8.30pm.
