Financial Times Colour Supplement

Financial Times Colour Supplement

The Financial Times is to launch a colour magazine supplement on September 20th, about the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race.

It is the first time for more than 20 years that the FT has brought out a colour magazine. It will be the first in a series of non-business titles planned by the paper, covering health and sport, to come out more or less monthly, depending on timing of events.

The glossy, full colour A4 magazine (printed on white paper) is to be sponsored. Tony Blin-Stoyle, Ad director, told MediaTel that while sponsorship of the main paper was out of the question because the FT would lose all credibility and objectvity, the sponsorship of a new magazine would enable the FT to cover new areas, and expand the editorial coverage.

Sponsors of the yachting supplement are Whitbread, Intrum Justitia and British Telecom. There is a set sponsorship fee.
