First Taxi Ads In Leeds Launched

The first ever taxi advertising in Leeds launched this week, with 5 fully liveried Taxi Media black cabs promoting the upcoming opening of a Radisson SAS Hotel in the city.

The twelve month campaign kicked off on Monday, ahead of the hotel opening on 28 May. Each taxi features creative which draws on different aspects of the hotel and its city centre location, with straplines such as “Love.Leeds” and “Life.Leeds”, as well as interior tip-seat advertising.

Deborah Heather, director of sales and marketing at the Radisson SAS Hotel, said: “The introduction of taxis carrying advertisements will help to create more of a ‘big city’ feel.”

Heather contacted Leeds council last year to see whether the hotel would be allowed to use taxi advertising, but was told that it was under review. Andrew Barnett, managing director of Taxi Media commented that the decision to allow this format would open up new opportunities for advertisers.
