Five Boosts Entertainment Output With Formula One Show

Channel Five is launching a new six-part series which gives viewers the chance to become a Formula One driver.

The series, which is a cross between Pop Idol and Top Gear, will see Jenson Button whittle down 1,000 contestants over six rounds designed to test all the skills required of an Formula One driver.

The winner will be signed to Essentially Sport Management in a seven-year contract with the opportunity to have a career in motor racing.

Button, who drove for the Renault Formula One team last season, commented: “So You Want to Be an F1 Driver? presents an unbelievable opportunity for people who follow motor racing to turn their dreams into reality. Many have probably watched racing on TV wishing it was them, now it could be!”
