Five Digital Controller Replaced

Five Logo Five has replaced Nick Thorogood, controller of its digital channels Five Life and Five US, with Hannah Barnes, currently managing editor of Sky One, Two and three.

In his role as director of programming, Barnes will oversee Five’s digital channels, Five Life and Five US, which were both launched last October (see Five To Launch Two New Channels).

Barnes joined Sky in her current role in May last year from Flextech where she was deputy channel controller of Living TV.

Prior to that she held a number of roles at Flextech including programme editor of Ftn and senior acquisitions executive.

Thorogood will become part of the channel’s commissioning team, working across a number of different projects.

Before joining Five, he had been working in South East Asia for Astro Broadcasting as acting director of programmes across their network of 56 channels (see Five Announces Controller For New Digital Channels).

Five’s managing director, content, Lisa Opie, said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to attract such a talented executive as Hannah to run our multi-channel operation.

“She has a very impressive track record in the digital marketplace and her experience and creativity will be a tremendous asset to Five.

“I’d like to thank Nick who came in to launch the new digital channels and has done a fantastic job in firmly establishing them so quickly and successfully.”
