Five’s new autumn season will feature new and original comedy, entertainment and drama, as well as the launches of the broadcasters two new digital channels, Five US and Five Life.
The varied output will include Tripping Over, a new six-part series from the writer of Cold Feet, starring Paul McGann, based around a group of twentysomethings whose lives collide on a stopover in Thailand.
In addition, Five is reintroducing Les Dennis to the small-screen, who will present a new primetime weekday quiz-show called Speculation. According to the host, “I said I’d only do another quiz show if the right one came along…and this it.”
The line-up also features several returning series, including Make Me A Supermodel and the Trust Me… strand, as well as the All Star Talent Show, hosted by Mylene Klass and Andi Peters, where familiar faces reveal their hidden talents.
Commenting on the new season, Dan Chambers, Five’s director of programmes, said: “This is a rich and varied schedule. I’m delighted that we are now seeing originated comedy, drama and entertainment firmly established on Five.”
Five’s new digital channels will both launch in mid-October. Five US will launch on Sunday 15th October and will air daily between 4pm and 1am, featuring a mix of American drama, films, documentaries, sport and comedy.
Meanwhile, Five Life launches the following day, airing daily between 6am and 11pm, and will feature award-winning entertainment show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, in its daytime line-up.
