Flextech Launches Broadband On-Demand Service

Flextech Television Logo A new on-demand broadband service is being launched by Flextech Television, the content division of Telewest Broadband, which will give viewers access to LIVINGtv and Bravo programmes online.

The service enables users to download episodes of their favourite series direct to their PC, with popular shows such as Most Haunted and Real Football Factories available to download and keep for around £2.50 per episode.

The line-up of titles ready for download at any one time is designed to maximise the on-air promotional opportunities created by the service, with series two of a programme appearing on air as the first series goes online.

Last month Bravo released the factual series Man’s Work on their website, which resulted in a 73% rise in traffic to the site.

Flextech also announced a licensing agreement with Buena Vista International Television which gives UK users the chance to rent popular US shows via the service, with an episode available for one 24-hour window within seven days of downloading.

Edward Humphrey, head of interactive at Flextech Television, said: “With the launch of our broadband on-demand services, Flextech continues to innovate with distribution platforms and direct commercial services. We’ll experiment with a variety of pricing models including PPV, packaging and subscriptions to better understand how our audience wants to purchase TV content online.”

It will let them schedule their own entertainment when it suits them.
