Flytxt Appoints To Head Of Sales To Drive Growth

Flytxt has appointed Dave Barker as its new head of sales and has launched a major recruitment programme to drive the mobile marketing group forward over the next six months.

In his new role Barker, who replaces Todd Tran, will be responsible for increasing revenues and capitalising on growth opportunities by expanding the company’s existing sales team and managing the demands of its clients, which include Emap and Five.

Barker joins from digital solutions company Hyperlink Interactive, where he was commercial director. Prior to joining Hyperlink he held a business development role at Teletext, where he helped develop the company’s digital TV and internet platforms.

Carsten Boers, head of client services at Flytxt, said: “This appointment marks an important milestone in Flytxt’s growth and sees us taking the company to the next level. The growth of opportunities in the market has meant a seasoned sales professional was needed to grow our sales team and manage the sophisticated demands of our clients.”

It is understood that Flytxt, which has seen the mobile marketing industry grow considerably over the last two years, will recruit a further 15 people over the next six months as part of its expansion plans.

The latest figures from the Mobile Data Association show that the text messaging phenomenon shows no signs of slowing, with an average of 55 million person to person text messages sent across the four UK GSM networks each day throughout June (see Text Continues To Shine In June).
