Ford Joins Telegraph Group’s Display Advertising Team

The Telegraph Group has announced that Steve Ford has taken up the position of executive of its display advertising team.

Ford, previously deputy advertising manager of the Weekly Telegraph, will report directly to display group head, Lloyd Best. He will take responsibility for a group of agencies including John Ayling and Associates, Red Media and Burkitt DDB.

Commenting on his first days in the new position, Ford said: “Working on the display team is incredibly busy and incredibly focussed.”

Speculation over the fate of the Telegraph Group’s stable of titles has intensified following Lord Black’s decision to step down as chief executive of the US-listed newspaper publisher Hollinger International (see Black To Step Down As Chief Executive Of Hollinger).

Much of the speculation has focused on Express boss Richard Desmond and former Daily Telegraph managing director, Stephen Grabiner, who are being tipped as potential bidders for the titles (see Hollinger Appoints Colson As Chief Operating Officer).

The Washington Post Company and the Daily Mail & General Trust are also understood to be circling over the troubled Hollinger media group with a view to making an offer for its assets in the event of a sale.
