Ford To Sponsor Royal Tournament
Ford will be sponsoring the ITV broadcast of the 1997 Royal Tournament. The car manufacturer has sponsored the show in part for the last five years and the new full sponsorship deal was negotiated by Sally Blackburn at Laser and James Papworth at the Network on behalf of Ford.
As well as sponsoring the opening, Ford will also be tied in with the mass bands, the Household Cavalry musical ride, the RAF Motorsport Association event, the New Zealand Maori display and the Royal Navy Field Gun Competition. A specially edited programme hosted by Philip Schofield will go out on 19th July and will show credits with an integrated creative treatment produced by LWT. The Tournament will be staged at London’s Earl’s Court from 15-27 July.
It was announced in February that ITV had secured coverage of the Tournament from BBC1, which had covered it for more than 40 years (subscribers see Royal Tournament Moves To ITV).
Ford’s other ITV sponsorship deals have included the European Football Champions League and Link – both in 1992.
